On the Road with Hannah
Produced by Bimarian Films and premiering at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Hannah’s Ride tells the story of 18-year-old competitive bicyclist and Kate Farms user, Hannah Jordan. Diagnosed with a life-threatening disease that requires her to use a G-tube, Hannah was hospitalized 27 times in two and a half years before she was even 10 years old. Coded as an “unknown error of metabolism,” Hannah’s cells leak energy, which can impact one organ after another. “There were days when she slept for 20 hours,” her mother, Alicia, says. “I wasn’t sure we were going to come out on the other side.”
But at just six years old, lying in yet another hospital bed, Hannah remembers being at her lowest. “I was dying and nobody was there to comfort me. It was just me.” At that moment, she committed to living her best life, thinking, “I can’t just sit here and die.” She was going to live her life to the fullest, making the most of every single day and the next.
Thriving in the Race
Seven years later, when she was 13 years old, Hannah jumped on a bike for only the second time in her life. Within the first 10 days of learning how to ride, she’d completed 210 miles. She was hooked. This was what would keep her motivated. In three years, she was traveling the country, competing in more than 150 races.
With a new love of racing, it was essential to find a formula that could support her peak performance. Kate Farms was the answer. Hannah carries her feeding tube and pump in a backpack that provides her with her Kate Farms formula, using about 3,000 calories a day. “I didn’t have a good relationship with food until I started Kate Farms,” she says. “I didn’t realize how bad or good you feel until you have something better or worse. Within the first three days of trying it, everything started working. It changed the way I thought about nutrition.” Today Hannah relies on Kate Farms’ plant-based formula for the nourishment she needs to take on the road ahead. Watch her journey as she races towards the next finish line.
